Poem: Relationship With A Fickle Heart

Image
1/2 Hearted Obedience,  Double-Minded Man  © 2013 Debbie Turner Chavers Water-Man Series Relationship with a Fickle Heart There was a time when I said  I love you BUT I changed my mind I admired your everything with rose colored glasses BUT you changed my mind I gathered your experiences of time and place BUT forgot about mine. I awoke with .. a fresh start and gathered my time BUT I changed my mind. ~Debbie Turner Chavers Loved by Faithful Jehovah God The love of the Father is not like this poem of fickle affections. Human love..changes..at times constantly. God is not fickle, but faithful. A love given that builds not borrows, gives not takes. Embraced, but free to go. You are LOVED by He who will not lie and has told you so. ~Debbie Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I dr...

Poem: Shoes of Peace

Image
Can Two Walk Together, Except They Be Agreed? © 2004 Debbie Turner Chavers Amos 3:3 Shoes of Peace Following the Worthy One In shoes of peace The road ahead is broad Where nary a soul one meets Who hasn't heard of the sorrow led by weary, laden, rebellious feet Where Christ is calling Your baggage can be carted on the broad way, but must be dumped to walk the narrow path To take hold of a life worth living To yield a furrowed field and all your plans askew To journey an adventure where His mercy is ever new But .. the path is narrow Where my Savior tarried and made the Way Two can go together, yet One must hold the other Hands held and followed close Eyes fixed on the horizon The path.. Where mercy flowed Where weary travelers left their load Discarded their stains and woe Following Christ and.. Away they go ~© 2016 Debbie Turner Chavers Cleansed and Redeemed Initial sketch  © 1996 Debbie Turner Chavers John 14:6 ...

Reflections/snoitcelfeR on James 1:22-24

Image
So the journey with this Art Parable started more than 20 years ago and I am still discovering the meaning of these scriptures. I am posting the initial drawing I sketched in 1996 of Reflections/snoitcelfeR ©1996 Debbie Turner Chavers. This is a bit of an introduction into how my scripture study, drawing, and painting of Art Parables processes over time, sometimes over years! *I will post the "finished painting" from this 1996 sketched version at a later date. As with any endeavor in our walk with God, He has opened my eyes of understanding layer by layer. Twenty years ago I was living in Hawaii and obviously that translated to my sketch. When the Lord first showed me this particular image with James 1:22-24 I saw it quite personally. Yet as with most things in our life, knowledge and application of bible study have changed me as God  has showed me the universal need of all to see Him. So a lot of my imagery for my art parables are Water-Men to represent everyone, mal...

Poem "Ye Must Be Born Again"

Image
Ye Must Be Born Again © 2012 Debbie Turner Chavers Water-Man Series John 3 Recently, I read a talented persons poetry of angst and despair, of gloom and doom. Sad enough to raise your hair. The poem below is for all..but you dear one in particular. The Lord sees every tear, every hair of your head is numbered. Your were created in the dark places yet birthed into light. Your destiny has been sealed and set before you. Open the door, He stands waiting and knocking. For He Loves You Completely with His Whole Heart ~Debbie Ye Must Be Born Again Oh! I love a happy ending from death to life But you have recorded a witness of life unto death. It is not that it should not be told, your witness of old Nor that you should not be bold, as your heart and thoughts unfold. The story written as you fling the arrows of your heart In sorrow of your perceived demise of love that is true But there is a lover who loves you true and victoriously waits for you Drop your ba...

A Paradox in Poetry and Art

Image
Enough © 2004 Debbie Turner Chavers Poetry is expressed from where I am, where I have been, and where I am going. I write the poem as an expression of human nature and spiritual longing. Throughout time, spirit and verbal expression have moved man. At times I write poetry after reading scripture, at times when I am pondering, rolling over my need for expression.  I painted an Art Parable titled "Enough" and after reading Isaiah 54, I saw a paradox in my poem of 2013 and my painting in 2004. Isaiah 54:2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. I don't believe another can tell you when you are full. There is a satiety point for all. As you partake in consuming, only you can say when you are full. Whether you have need of filling or have had enough. My point is..EAT until you are full. ~Debbie I Long For You I long for you For you to fill my...

Memorial Poem: When You Think of Me

Image
Mark Chavers 1961-2015 Even now, it is still difficult to write this, to say out loud that a dear brother and brother-in-law has left this life to be with Jesus forever more. We as his family are comforted knowing he is safely in heaven, yet miss his unique input in all our lives.  Mark's oldest daughter, Heather Chavers James has written a poem to share with our families as we had the first of many holidays without his ridiculous sense of humor.  We all lend a unique perspective of life during our lifetime.  Mark's ability to make my husband laugh was a gift. A gift of agreement between two brothers on the ridiculousness of life and living. I grieve the loss of this bond between my husband and his younger brother, but I thank God for the fellowship of fights wrestled through, arguments settled and laughter that rang sweet and true. ~Debbie                   When You Think of Me written by Heather Chavers Jam...

Cross Road

Daily I meet people who are at a cross road in life. A cross road. The place where two paths intersect at a given point. At the corner of my world I linger, looking for direction At times I give direction To those I meet Sometimes We meet briefly. Nod politely. At times we speak. t And cross. Sometimes walking on the same path. At times headed in a different direction. ~Debbie         © 2011 Debbie Turner Chavers All writing, poetry, posts, art, and photography, copyright © 2011 Debbie Turner Chavers. July 1, 2011

July 1, 2011 Today I saw you for the first time A small blip A bud of a child, complete in Him Yet growing daily stronger Today I saw you for the first time In the belly of your mother, on a screen that showed the tiniest heart beat Almost imperceptible, yet beating in time with His plan His word has declared that you are wonderfully and fearfully made. I am grateful. Today I saw you for the first time. © 2011 Debbie Turner Chavers All writing, poetry, posts, art, and photography, copyright © 2011 Debbie Turner Chavers. A Mother, A Proverbs 31 Woman

A Mother, Quiet strength, that absorbs the repercussions of a family. Grace and wisdom that flows ribbon like through the family tree. Peace that finds comfort through the study and application of God's word in the landscape of everyday life. A Gardener planting trees of righteousness in her generations. Toiling and sunning in life's field Pulling strength from the vine, as the Sun of righteousness arises with healing in His wings. "Arise children and give Him praise" A Mother said at the beginning and the end of the day. A Mother Proverbs 31 woman, her generations will arise and called her blessed. ~Debbie © 2011 Debbie Turner Chavers ***Excerpt from my book  " Proverbs 31, Verse by Verse " © 2009 Debbie Turner Chavers Malachi 4:2   But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. On Purpose

With purpose of heart Today I will say good-bye before I say hello To that which will bring death With purpose of heart I will choose your way O God, not mine As I take each breath In hope Of a life lived with love to spare For all Because you first loved me With purpose of heart I choose to live out your purpose in me. Even when Life seems without purpose. Each of us must face our own moments of decision. Where our choices make or break us. The poem above is part of my poetry journal "Letting Go of Cockatoo Dreams" © 2010 Debbie Turner Chavers Act 11:23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

There Is a Time

There is a time when your prayers seem unanswered. A time where life is a wall of obstacles with no apparent foot holds. Where dreams have shattered and only fragments remain. There is a time when your prayers are answered without reason or rhyme. A time where hope springs anew and shadows depart from you. Where with clasped hands in submission or hands lifted high with praise. NOTHING stays the same. This too will pass and only God and His word remains. The same yesterday, and today, and forever. There is a time... ~Debbie From my poetry journal "Letting Go of Cockatoo Dreams" © 2010 Debbie Turner Chavers Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Ecclesiastes 3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance

Letting Go of Cockatoo Dreams

Everyone seems to be on a journey to find themselves. And yet.......here we are. So busy pleasing others. Reaching out for ......the elusive self. Pushing down our needs. Giving out seeds. Seeds sown.....to others who have grown. Past our self-sacrifice to parts unknown. And yet.....here we are. Waiting on the harvest. Heart in hand, thoughts afar to times past When we toiled.....to see a harvest at last. Everyone seems to be on a journey to find themselves. And yet....here we are. ~Debbie Turner Chavers I have written some of my thoughts as poetry at different times in my life. This poem and others are in my journal titled "Letting Go of Cockatoo Dreams".
