"God Created"

Image
Are You Thirsty? © 2006 Debbie Turner Chavers Genesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:2   And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:3   And God said , Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:4    And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness. As I read these scriptures, the two words "God created" came to my attention.  "God created"  how often do we question our new creation in Christ Jesus, or the evidence of our new birth?  This doubt can be brought about by our fleshly endeavors or brought about by our or another persons perceived weakness.  Yet, if we consider "God created " we see that creation started without form, and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon ...

Grace

Recently, I listened to a sermon  preached by Joseph Prince.  Sometimes we hear something and it is categorized as a general sound of life.  Words or sounds that we do not actively pay attention to. Yet, in the midst of everyday life, God speaks His truth to our heart when we make ourselves available to listen.  As I study the Word of God and listen to sound, biblical teaching I am thankful for fresh insight about Grace, the unmerited favor of God through His Son, Jesus Christ.  Therefore, I am sharing the four major points of the sermon I heard. The Law - demands Gods Love- gives Grace- supplies Faith- takes My Summary:  The Law and its rules and regulations were impossible for man to keep 100%. So God's love for man caused Him to send His only begotten, sinless Son, Jesus Christ to do for us, what we could not do.  The need to satisfy a Holy God, who required 100% perfection from man, His created investment. My acceptance of His grace, ...

Hear and Obey

Image
Hear and Obey © 2011 Debbie Turner Chavers I recently saw an advertisement on TBN for a microfilm bible.  The entire bible! It had to be viewed with a microscope.  This caused me to think about my own life and testimony. My daily life and choices.  Have I reduced the bible and its implications to a microscope size?  How hard do others have to look to find Christ in me?  I want God to live large in my life.  To hear as He hears, to be moved by what moves Him.  Are we listening? Has disobedience stuffed our ears?  When I was young, people would say "Take the cotton out of your ears." Cotton in this case would represent willful disobedience.  You put it there, you remove it.  Open your ears to receive God's good word for you. The hearing ear is a gift from God. Proverbs 20:12   The hearing ear , and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them. Matthew 11:15   He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. ...

Technology-Tool? or Idol?

Image
Power Stuggle © 1999 Debbie Turner Chavers Today we are flooded with technology. The ability to check in or check out with a finger tip. Often the technology strips away our humanity and leaves us with a social facade. We hide behind the tech cover. Many have fallen beneath the allure of checking out. It has become easier to live life at "screens length". There is a need to regularly do a "soul check" of our use of technology. Have you replaced one on one time with others, with social media? It is difficult to have a meaningful relationship with anyone, when there is a screen of any kind in between you and another human. When technology steals from your soul, mind, or body, it is an idol . Technological use without benefit of Holy Spirit led instruction can be a tool of destruction. Prayerfully consider your use and time with technology. Is it a tool that is being used properly by you or an idol? Has it replaced time with God or loved ones? Technolog...

Habit

Mark 10:1  And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judae by the farther side of Jordan, and the people resort into him again, and, as he was wont, he taught them again. As I read this verse this morning, I noted..."as he was wont" or in other words " as was his habit. We all have habits. Things we do habitually. One of the wonderful things about reading God's word is that it allows you to have Selah moments. The opportunity to pause and consider your life, thoughts and manner in the light of His word.  Word association is an attention grabber.  More than likely when you read the word " habits" you mentally identified one of your own.  Wonderful.  So pause and consider. Does "the Habit" bring refreshment? ~Debbie Here is my Selah Reflection for today from today's Proverb in the NIV bible. Proverbs 13:10 Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. All writing, poetry, posts, art,...

Your Father's Heart

This encouragement posted below was sent to me via a daily encouragement from Pastor Joseph Prince's Ministry. If you would like to receive his  Daily Grace Inspirations  you can click here to sign up at his web site.  I listen to Pastor Prince on a regular basis.  I thought the posting below was a beautiful example of God's great love for us, so I am reposting it on my blog. ~Debbie ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your Father's Heart Matthew 7:11   If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Let me tell you a true story I heard. There was a pastor whose young child was diagnosed with cancer. The day his boy was scheduled for an operation, this father cried out to God, “God, I’m almost 30 years old, but my boy is only about three months old. Why don’t you just take some years off my life and give them to my boy?” Then, from de...
