Journeys by nature can cause you to grow in depth and preparedness.
Journeys give you new perspectives via new horizons.  If there is any struggle during the journey you generally gain new strength and ability.
You can also gain additional discipline from preparations accomplished before the journey, during, and after the journey.
This life we live is a journey toward eternity. The final destination will be Heaven or Hell.
As I considered these thoughts, I opened my Bible to read Luke 23:50-56.

Luke 23:50-56  And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor: and he was a good man, and a just.
The same had not consented to the council and deed of them; he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

In my mind, I see such a tender scene of Joseph stepping up to minister in his boldness to identify with Jesus Christ after his death even as he fulfilled a prophesy concerning the Messiah. Whereas, the Apostles who had been daily with Jesus, hid.
I would not chide the Apostle's, I see their humanity, if not their boldness on that particular day.  Fear of crucification was a serious consideration.
But I am blessed by the women who prepared to care for Him even after His death. The women who had ministered to Jesus, those who others had over looked or looked away from. These were the ones seeking to serve their Messiah.  Jesus had given them the compassion, deliverance, and care that these women needed during his life.  He had considered their weakness yet gave them His strength and purpose.  He led them to lead.  When He arose as He said He would, I love the fact that women were the first to whom He appeared.  He is no respecter of persons but they were seeking Him, and they found Him!

Proverbs 8:17  I love them that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me.

Jeremiah 29:13  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Isaiah 53:9  And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

This journey toward eternity, where are you?  What final destination have you chosen for yourself? Is today your day of preparation? Have you perceived and accepted the truth of Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection?  Have you hid? Or are you waiting to prepare your spices and ointments to meet the King?
Where are you on this journey in life? Seek the LORD while He may be found.
